Dr. Alexander Demkov, a professor of Physics, an associate faculty member of the Oden Institute, and one of the Texas Materials Institute's Core Faculty, was elected as 1 of the 18 MRS Fellows for 2026.
The Materials Research Society (MRS) Fellows are "outstanding Members whose sustained and distinguished contributions to the advancement of materials research are internationally recognized. By representing excellence in science and engineering and dedication to the advancement of materials research, the MRS Fellows will exemplify the highest ideals of accomplishment and service embodied in the MRS Mission."
Dr. Demkov was nominated and elected "For advancing the science of functional oxides on silicon, with broad impact on microelectronics and optical technologies." He joins a class of other distinguished scientists from both academia, governmental research facilities, and industry.
