Dr. Arumugam Manthiram, an affiliate member of the Texas Materials Institute, received the Electrochemical Society's Olin Palladium Award at the 248th Meeting on October 13th, 2025. 

The award was originally established in 1950 for "distinguished contributions to the field of electrochemical or corrosion science." Along with a medal and a plaque with a replica of the medal, the winner also gives an address during a dinner held in their honor. Dr. Manthiram's talk, "The Triumph with Oxide Chemistry in Energy Storage," related to the contributions for which the award is presented.

He joins others, such as Nobel Laureate John Goodenough, in receiving the award. The medal was designed by Robert M. Burns, Norman Hackerman, John C. Warner, and Herbert H. Uhlig and based on mythology, alchemy, and the history of science.
