We are thrilled to share some incredible news from our students!
Nicolas Molina, a standout graduate student from Dr. Filippo Mangolini’s lab, has received the highly prestigious Dorothy M. and Earl S. Hoffman National Award from the American Vacuum Society (AVS). This honor is awarded in recognition of exceptional graduate research in surface science and engineering. Nicolas was presented with this award at the AVS National Conference held in Tampa, FL this week. In addition to this remarkable recognition, Nicolas also earned 2nd place in the Applied Surface Science Division Graduate Student Award.
Shan Kutagalla, Pablo Vidal, and Luke Sloan were all honored with Samsung Fellowship Awards for Spring 2025! Thanks to a recent donation from Samsung, eight fellowships were awarded to students enrolled in the Cockrell School of Engineering for the Spring 2025 semester. This fellowship includes a spring stipend, insurance, tuition payment, along with a $5,000 topping fellowship.
• Pablo Vidal is in Dr. Nanshu Lu’s lab and was a Samsung Fellowship recipient for Spring 2024.
• Shan Kutagalla is in Dr. Deji Akinwande’s lab and was also a recipient for Spring 2024.
• Luke Sloan is in Prof. Sanjay Banerjee’s Lab and is a first-time recipient!
