The Cockrell School of Engineering and College of Natural Sciences at UT Austin are hiring four tenure-track Assistant Professors in the "AI for Materials" cluster initiative, starting Fall 2025.
Positions are expected to be in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering, McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, and Department of Chemistry, though other departments may be considered. Collaborative research will span areas like machine learning for materials modeling, AI for materials characterization, and autonomous materials discovery.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by the start date and are encouraged to have expertise in AI, machine learning, materials science, or related fields. They will develop research programs, mentor students, and contribute to teaching and curriculum development, including AI-focused courses.
