In a momentous recognition of their groundbreaking contributions, TMI's very own, Abhay Gupta, a distinguished cell materials engineer at Tesla, and polymer materials innovator, Youhong Guo have both secured coveted spots on the esteemed 2023 Forbes '30 Under 30' list.
Gupta's journey began during his undergraduate studies in Petroleum Engineering at University of Texas at Austin, where his research on low-cost engineered nanoparticles paved the way for advancements in oil recovery. He continued his studies at UT Austin, pursuing a Ph. D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the Texas Materials Institute, Gupta spent five years developing high-energy-density lithium-sulfur batteries at UT Austin, earning him a NASA fellowship and collaborations with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His expertise positions him as a key player in the dynamic landscape of sustainable energy development.
In parallel, Youhong Guo is a Ph.D. graduate from the Materials Science and Engineering Doctoral Program at the Texas Materials Institute in UT Austin. Guo has emerged as a visionary in polymer materials, specializing in the creation of innovative solutions for practical and sustainable purposes. Youhong Guo's developments include nanostructured hydrogel tablets capable of rapidly disinfecting water or transforming saltwater into freshwater without any energy input. A single tablet can disinfect a liter of river water, making it safe for consumption in an hour or less.
